Our Doctors

Dr. Hennessey earned his Bachelor of Science and Medical Degree from the University of Michigan.  He moved to Chicago to train in Ophthalmology at Rush Medical Center.  A fellowship in Cornea and External Diseases at University of Illinois, Chicago completed Dr. Hennessey’s formal training.

Like all the doctors of the Oak Park Eye Center, Dr. Hennessey is Board Certified in Ophthalmology and practices the most modern medical and surgical care available for your eye care needs.

He enjoys caring for patients with all types of eye care issues; from basic glasses and contact lens fitting to complex diseases such as Diabetic Retinopathy, Glaucoma and Macular Degeneration.  He performs the most modern, small incision, cataract surgery and many types of laser and formal surgical procedures.

The additional training he received at UIC allows Dr. Hennessey to diagnose and treat the more complex diseases involving the front of the eye.  These conditions include Keratoconus, severe corneal infections, Pterygia, and inherited diseases of the cornea.  He performs specialized corneal surgeries, such as corneal transplantations, DSEK (Descemet’s Stripping Endothelial Keratoplasty), and other reconstructive surgeries involving the front of the eye.
