Michael Hennessey, M.D.
Dr. Hennessey was born in Detroit, MI and grew up in the
Detroit area. He attended University of Michigan for
undergraduate where he obtained his B.S. in Biology with
Honors. Dr. Hennessey also studied medicine at the
prestigious University of Michigan and then came to Chicago
to train in Ophthalmology at Rush Medical Center. A
fellowship in Cornea and External Diseases of the eye at UIC
Eye Center completed Dr. Hennessey's formal training.
Like all the doctors at Oak Park Eye Center, Dr. Hennessey
is Board Certified in Ophthalmology and practices the most
modern medical and surgical care available for your eye
care needs.
Dr. Hennessey enjoys caring for patients with all types of eye
care issues from basic glasses and contact lens fittings to
complex diseases such as Diabetic Retinopathy, Glaucoma
and Macular Degeneration. Dr. Hennessey performs the
most modern, small incision, cataract surgery and many
types of laser and formal surgical procedures. He also
performs Botox(R) injections for the reduction of wrinkles and
for spasms of the eyelids and face.
The additional training he received at UIC, under the
instruction of Dr. Joel Sugar, one of the leading cornea
specialist in the country, allows Dr. Hennessey to diagnose
and treat the more complex diseases involving the front of
the eye. These conditions include Keratoconus, severe
corneal infections, Pterygia, and inherited diseases of the
cornea. He performs specialized corneal surgeries, such as
corneal transplantations and other reconstructive surgeries
involving the front of the eye.
Philosophy: To provide outstanding, comprehensive eye
care in a caring fashion, with an emphasis on patient
education.
Dr Hennessey sees patients at both locations and is a
member of the medical staff at Gottlieb and Elmhurst
Hospitals.
